G'day mate!

Are you ready to for the trip of a lifetime as we zoom off to the Land Down Under? Be prepared to experience the jaw-dropping beauty of the Great Barrier Reef, the arid temperature of outback afternoons, the architectural marvels of Autstralia's modern cities, and the fascinating eucalypt forest, home of the koalas.

For many years, St. Michael Lutheran Church has been hosting Vacation Bible School for Portage area families. We are excited to welcome your family to our campus and this 2023 adventure!

At Zoomerang, kids will marvel at the unforgettable wildlife, culture and beautify of Australia while exploring the wonder and value of life, from the lives of preborn babies to eternal life in the kingdom of God.

Our theme is "Returning to the Value of Life". This opportunity to share with the many families of our church, school, preschool and daycare programs, also gives us a great way to connect within our community friends.

What Will Happen At VBS?

At Zoomerang VBS, kids discover incredible Land Down Under Bible-learning experiences! Our primary goal has always been to bring God glory by boldy and unashamedly proclaiming him to a strategic group -- young people and our young-at-heart volunteers.

The Aussie Opening Assembly will thrill kids with entertaining drama, songs, mission moments and prayer. The Top Koala-ty Treats are a much anticipated stop, after the Turtle-y Terrific Science and Crafts or Hoppin' Good Games.

Plus, we’ll help kids discover how to see evidence of God in their everyday life—"I praise God for I am fearfully and wonderfully made!".

The children ages 4 yrs.-6th grade will rotate through the various sites. (Some 6th grade students may be ready for the challenge of being a volunteer helper, alongside seasoned leaders. Others are welcome to enjoy the fun!)

We need over 100 volunteers!

Junior High (current 6-7-8 grades) and High School students are encouraged to assist!

Wellness Policy

At St. Michael, we strive to provide a healthy environment for all and ask that those experiencing symptoms of illness refrain from in-person activities. We can’t emphasize enough the importance of following our request. Parents will be notified immediately if a child starts feeling unwell. We appreciate your care and consideration of others.

Weather permitting, we will host our games outdoors for approximately a twenty-minute period. If your child has a concern for sun exposure, we ask that you please apply a sunscreen prior to arriving. We transition quickly and volunteers cannot do that for the group.

Arrival Details

Arrive by 8:45 am, the first day for sure! VBS programming starts promptly at 9 am and you want to get your child connected with their Crew Leader. Please no drop-offs in the parking lot. An adult should escort a child to their designated spot. Please use our Main Church Entrance (big awning in the middle of the length of the building). Parents will take children to the crew leader that is nearest to the ASSIGNED COLOR and NUMBER for your child. This information should be emailed to you the week prior to the start of VBS.

Meeting registration friend requests is challenging. We use multi-age groups. This strategy helps with discipline concerns and allows for older kids to become excellent disciples, as they offer assistance to a younger buddy occasionally. Preassigned teams will be set to meet safety ratios. Please prepare your child to be excited for their team.

Pickup Details

Pick-up time will be at 12:00 pm. You are welcome to arrive a few minutes early, however, please refrain from taking your child out until the Wrap-up Leaders dismiss the kids. For safety, all kids are dismissed to their assigned adult or emergency contact friend only.

Snacks

Treats will be shared daily. Fresh Fruit and Skinny Pop Popcorn will be available for those that might need an alternative. If your child has an allergy or a dietary concern that would prohibit them from eating any of the snacks, please send a personal-size alternative snack in a baggie with their name attached. This should be given to the Registration Team to ensure that it gets to the kitchen area.
