MONDAY-FRIDAY

JULY 13-17

9 AM - NOON

Join us on the ultimate Alaskan adventure where the northern lights shine over majestic mountains, racing rivers, and sparkling glaciers. As they trek the tundra, they’ll discover how easy it is to lose sight of what's true in our wild world today. Guiding them towards Jesus, our True North VBS reveals that He is a faithful friend we can always trust. He's our True North!

"Children journey through the Book of Matthew to discover how Jesus is their guiding light, offering unwavering faithfulness throughout life's challenges."

Day 1: Ponder
Day 2: Clawdia
Day 3: Kody
Day 4: Earnest
Day 5: Bruce

Our Community is invited to Vacation Bible School

For many years, St. Michael Lutheran Church has been hosting Vacation Bible School for Portage area families. We are excited to welcome your family to our campus for this 2026 adventure!

Small groups or “crews” of kids (Potty Trained) 4 Years - 5th Grade will rotate through stations together-worshipping and singing at Sing & Play Peak, digging into the day’s Wild Bible Adventures, experiencing God’s creation through science at Imagination Station, and playing games that reinforce the day’s Bible Point. You can expect a full week of faith discoveries, memorable music, and epic adventures that help kids grow in friendship with Jesus!

Don't know others attending? It's OK. We will help connect everyone. Sign up to meet new friends!

IS YOUR PRESCHOOLER READY FOR VBS?

See this "Checklist" to help make the best decision.

Our primary goal has always been to bring God glory,

by boldly and unashamedly proclaiming Him to the younger generations.

Children are loved by their Creator, and Jesus said to let them come to Him (Luke 18:16).

Registration is Required.

OPEN NOW

We cannot wait to see you!

There is no fee to attend VBS

We are happy to provide this day of FUN!

We have calculated that the costs from decorations, lesson materials, special giveaway items, snacks, etc. adds up to approximately $25 per child that attends.  If you would like to make a donation to the ministry, please follow this link, scroll down and select Children's Ministry.

We need a lot of volunteers!

Fun-loving Adults,

Junior High (students completing 6-7-8 grades)

and High School students are encouraged to assist!

All volunteers and staff over the age of 18 years are background checked and must attend a training session before serving. Younger volunteers may be assigned to serve alongside an adult mentor to offer guidance.

We are happy to sign off on Volunteer Service Hour forms.

Wellness Policy

At St. Michael, we strive to provide a healthy environment for all and ask that those experiencing symptoms of illness refrain from in-person activities. We can’t emphasize enough the importance of following our request. Parents will be notified immediately if a child starts feeling unwell. We appreciate your care and consideration of others.

Weather permitting, we will host some activities outdoors. If your child has a concern for sun exposure, we ask that you please apply a sunscreen prior to arriving. We transition quickly and volunteers cannot do that for the group.

Arrival Details

Please arrive at our MAIN ENTRANCE (big awning in the middle of the length of the building) no earlier than 8:30 am and check in your child each day at the registration table. You MUST escort your child into the building, as drop-offs are NOT PERMITTED.

This is where you will exchange important information with our registration crew, such as pick up details. After check in, you will then help your child find their crew leader in the sanctuary. Crew assignments will be shared via email one week prior to the start of VBS, or given to you during the check in process.

Meeting registration friend requests is challenging. Preassigned groups will be set to meet safety ratios. Please prepare your child to be open-minded to meet and participate with new friends!

Pickup Details

Pick-up time will be 12 pm. However, we invite you to arrive early and enjoy the 11:30am Compass Closing ceremony to hear and learn more about our daily adventures! Please no early pick-ups, as it’s disruptive to the entire sanctuary.

Snacks

We are happy to provide each child with a daily themed snack! If your child has any food allergies or dietary restrictions that would prohibit them from eating what we have to offer, please send an alternative safe snack in a baggie with their name attached. This should be given to our registration crew at check in to ensure that it gets to the kitchen area. Thank you!
