“In Him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in Him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by His Spirit.” (Ephesians 2:21-22)
Build His Kingdom
God is now giving us a new season of opportunity to reach out to our community and to one another. Under a new roof, we will have a renovated and expanded Christ for Kids ministry in which people can bring babies to Jesus so that He might bless them through our hands. We will have welcoming new offices that will enhance the effectiveness of our staff, an especially designated prayer area, much needed locker rooms off of our gym for school and fellowship events, and a music room for both church and school. A new roof will replace the current leaking one with one that is durable, attractive, and will make a good impression on our community about the ministry that goes on every day under our roof. It will tie our school and church ministry facilities together into one unified whole that will last for generations to come.
We dedicate to the Lord our “Raise the Roof, Build His Kingdom” capital campaign. Our congregation has authorized this special appeal for the purpose of raising at least $300,000 to fund replacement of the old gravel roof with a new standing seam steel roof that will match what we now have over the Family Life Center/Saint Michael Lutheran School building. Additionally, this will pay approved costs for renovating the historic wing and pay down related construction debt. We also plan to join in the biblical principle and precedent of tithing the tithe (see Numbers 18:26) by pledging 10% of what is raised to the LCMS Michigan District’s “Here We Stand” campaign. This campaign, in celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, seeks to raise ten million dollars for professional church worker scholarships and for the support of both local and global missions, including some exciting, innovative outreach ministry. As believers in Jesus Christ, we are His Church, and we are the “whole building” (Ephesians 2:21) that is built together, joined together, and rises together to His glory. We are built upon the common foundation that is Jesus Christ, and He ties us all together under one roof into a unified whole that declares His praises to all. With this in mind, we ask you to prayerfully consider making a financial commitment which can be fulfilled as you desire over a one-year period and present it to the Lord on Celebration Sunday, May 22, 2016. May the Lord help us make a difference together by committing to “Raise the Roof, Build His Kingdom!”
