
The Reverend Doctor Paul Robert Naumann was born in Springfield, Illinois and grew up in Miami, Florida. In 1976 he entered the pre-ministerial program at Concordia College in Ann Arbor, majoring in both Music and Biblical Languages, and earned at BA in 1980. On August 23 of that year he was married to Dana Lyn Seidel of Saginaw, Michigan, who had earned an A.A. degree from Concordia, Ann Arbor in 1979. Together they moved to St. Louis, Missouri where Paul prepared for the ministry and Dana completed her undergraduate studies at Font Bonne College. Paul completed his Master of Divinity in 1984 and pursued further graduate studies in Old Testament exegesis while Dana completed her Master in Social Work at Washington University. He was placed as Assistant Pastor and eventually Associate Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Oshkosh, Wisconsin where he served for five years. During this time their sons, Philip and Andrew were born. Shortly after completing his Master of Sacred Theology degree in 1990, he took a call to be Campus Pastor and Instructor in Theology at Concordia University Wisconsin. In 1991their daughter, Janel, was born. In December of 1994, Paul earned his Doctor of Ministry in homiletics from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois (1994) and in 1995 he received the title of Assistant Professor of Theology at CUW.
At the conclusion of 1996, Pastor Naumann accepted the call to be the new Associate Pastor at St. Michael Lutheran Church with Rev. Kenneth Allan as Senior Pastor, and was installed on February 2, 1997. By the end of the summer, Pastor Allan retired and Pastor Naumann became Senior Pastor, eventually to be joined by Pastor Steve Thiel as Associate Pastor from 1999-2002. During his nearly twenty years of ministry, Pastor Naumann has been active in positions in the Circuit, District and Synod, working especially in the areas of Youth Ministry, Outreach,Worship, Campus Ministry, and Small Group Ministry. He has been published in various periodicals, and has been a speaker at a number of seminars and workshops. He is currently the Circuit Counselor for Circuit #42 of the Michigan District and also serves on the President's Advisory Council for Concordia University, Ann Arbor.
